Engineering Research Institute

Edificio 12 (II)

At the first floor of the Engineering Research Institute building 12 is the Automation Section, where some researchers and students of the Control Group have their room. In this section there is a laboratory with the next equipment

  • An induction motor test bench, that include a 1 hp squirrel cage induction motor, a source three phase inverter, an inertial load brake with an electrical clutch, and position, velocity, torque, and current sensors.
  • An inverted pendulum over a car driven by direct current motor.
  • A magnetic levitation system.
  • A ball and beam system with a video camera as the position sensor.
  • A data acquisition AC-100 system with DSPs TMS320.
  • A SUN Sparc10, a SUN Sparc5, and a HP Apollo 700 workstations.
  • A PC network with simulation, mathematical analysis, and typesetting software, like Matlab 5, Simnon, Scientific WorkPlace and Maple
  • MATLAB, MATRIXx y MATHEMATICA packages for workstation.
  • Several laboratory equipment (DMM's, Voltage sources, Digital scopes)
